thanks.
Dear Visti,
Namaskar,
Interesting and very informative lecture, when I had almost given up on how to calculate the adhana lagna
2 queries:
One) Sanjayji mentions that Venus in D12 of adhana lagna should aspect or be associated with Jupiter for this birth to be human, you have said about human sign associations but not Jupiter, can you please clarify this.
Two)Can we look at the natural abilities in navamsa from this like we do for natal chart, for if these are from previous birth , they should reflect here.
Sincerely,
Sharat

Dear Visti,
Apologies,
I forgot to ask about the Gulika calculation you used for Ander’s chart, can that be obtained in Jhora? In Jhora it shows Gk to be at 1 degrees while you used 22!! Please can you explain how to use your method of Saturn kalam.
Thanks again,
Sincerely,
Sharat

Dear Sharat, Namaskar.
Thats because humans have more medha than other lifeforms. This is what is distinguishing the man from the monkey. Still i was taught to see if human signs are involved for this.
As for adhana navamsa, i was taught this is used for seeing the dharma performed in the last birth.
I had clarified in the recording that i used Gulika rising at the end of Saturns portion. Just check the upagraha settings and you will see the options.
Yours, Visti

Dear Shri Vistiji
Many thanks for making a subject shrouded in so much of secrecy so easily understandable. It would be very helpful to convince the sceptics of Jyotish if you could further elaborate(as briefly alluded to in the lecture) on adhana lagna for souls born pre-mature.
With warmest regards

Dear Shri vistiji
Just to calrify a doubt. As per the revised Adhan Lagna example shouldn’t the lagna be taken as moon’s hora plus the 5 degrees portion computed earlier? i.r should the lagna be aquarius 20 degrees and seconds?
Again many many thanks

Dear Shri Vistiji
OM NAMO NARAYANA
You make learning Jyotish such a facinating experience.
In reference to the principles enunciated for strenght of sun and moon horas for day/night strong rashis i was wondering if the same can be intepolated to assess the strength of D-2 Hora divisional chart. For example if venus is at 17 deg. in kanya it will be in sun’s hora but being in a day strong rashi in sun’s hora it will be strong more so if it is a daytime birth. Therefore despite being in female rashi and in sun’s hora it should be considered to be strong for D-2 delineation. Will this be the case? Please enlighten.
Warmest regards

dear visti,
Although you have clarified Finding degree rising of lagna in adhan chakra, can you construct a memory aid and clarify calculation.
For example To find degree is it dinmaan/ratrimaan x15 divided by ista kaal or time elapsed since sunset( of course dinman/ratrimaan in same unit). OR it is something else.
Can it be made clear which half of sign be used for native of day birth and night birth.
Hope you wont mind my poor comprehension.

Respected Visti Ji
Hare Rama Krishna
I have a good news that my wife delievered a beautiful daughter on 1 June 2007 at 15:56 Sydney Australia.
As usual there are a lot of astrologers giving different opinions on the concepts like Ganda Moola dosha. Can you please explain to me what this is? To my understanding Ganda Moola only affects from Pada 4 of jyestha to pada 1 of moola. The daughters moon is still in the 1st pada of Jyestha, or is there something that I am missing here?
can you please explain this concept. Your words I believe to my soul.
is there any other shanti pujan advised. moon is debilitated but Ketu can give neecha bhanga to it as being the lord of the sign. There is a curse of Uncle in the chart and the remedy would be given through saturn who is the karaka for the same.
Blessings is lagna lord and 5th lord have parivartana. Gaja Kesari in lagna and conjunctions of the trines in lagna.
Any comments?
Regards
Tarun
June 3rd, 2007 at 9:53 pm
Dear Saumil and Tarun, Namaskar.
Saumil
The mantra is 8 syllables: Om Namo Narayanaya|
The Hora chart has some similar rules, but i cannot confirm whether your thoughts are justified. I will let you know when i do.
Tarun
).
Ganda is short for Gandanta and your inferences are correct. There are three types of Gandanta: Lagna, Chandra and Tithi. I suspect there may be Tithi Gandanta in this chart, but with Jupiter in lagna a mere ‘Namah’ to ‘Shiva’ is enough to remove all doshas (could he mean Namah Shivaaya?
The best remedy for all infants is to perform Rudraabhishek or Mrityunjaya homa on the birth nakshatra of the child until they are eight years of age. Yet i feel this child is protected by Guru.
As for the curse, the remedy can come from Saturn who is placed in the ninth house, showing that father can perform a Narayana mantra to help the child.
Yours sincerely, Visti

Respected Visti Ji
As per BPHS ch 94 shloka 2 The starting 2 ghatis of poorna tithis 5th 10th and 15th and ending 2 ghatis of 1st, 6th and 11th are in tithi gandanta. I think there is some prob with the translation from sharma and it should be 2 ghatis of poornima and start of 1st How many ghatis are in a tithi? at the time of birth 19% of 1st tithi had already past. Does that still fall under the 2 ghatis of pratipada
What Narayana mantra would you recomend for this. Om Namo Narayanaya is 8 aksharas and this is the 8th house curse so do you think that should be apt.

Dear Srivastava, Namaskar
1. For day signs the suns hora makes them day strong.
For night signs the suns hora makes them night strong.
Similarly: For day signs the moons hora makes them night strong &
For night signs the moons hora makes them day strong.
In essence: the moons hora causes the opposite strength of the sign.
2. I have always repeated in the calculations of Gulika throughout that i use the calculation of Gulika rising at the end of Saturns portion. Similarly i was taught that all the upagrahas (except Mandi) are born at the end (anta) of their fathers/Grahas.
Yours, Visti
June 4th, 2007 at 10:06 am
Dear Tarun, Namaskar.
You are right, it should be between the Purna and Nanda tithis, viz. 15th and 1st; 5th and 6th; 10th and 11th.
2 ghatikas is 2×24 minutes, i.e. 48 minutes.
Figure out when the 1st, 6th or 11th tithi started, and count 48 minutes before and after to find the tithi-gandanta portion.
In your daughters case she was born during Krishna Pratipad, and Pratipad (1st tithi) began at 11:04 AM (refer JHORA ->Miscellany->panchanga). She was born 3:56 PM (15:56) and this is 4 hrs and 52 minutes away. Hence based on this we can firmly say that there is no Tithi gandanta.
Now see this sloka by Parasara:
सन्ध्यायां चन्द्रहोरायां गण्डान्ते निधनाय वै।
प्रत्येकं चन्द्रपापैश्च केन्द्रगैः स्याद्विनाशनम्॥ १३॥
sandhyāyāṁ candrahorāyāṁ gaṇḍānte nidhanāya vai |
pratyekaṁ candrapāpaiśca kendragaiḥ syādvināśanam || 13||
Birth during sandhya, moons horä or gaṇḍānta is death causing when Moon alone is in a kendra with malefics.
So even Chandra-Hora is malefic! This surely proves that the Panchanga is of vital use, and is something my western contemporaries must acknowledge as vital in chart analysis and not just see as mere ‘cosmology’.
Lets see how tithi-gandanta can work out:
Date: July 29, 2003
Time: 17:20:00
Time Zone: 10:00:00 (East of GMT)
Place: 144 E 58′ 00″, 37 S 49′ 00″
Melbourne, Australia
Tithi: Sukla Pratipat (Su) (98.12% left)
Vedic Weekday: Tuesday (Ma)
Nakshatra: Pushyami (Sa) (34.16% left)
Yoga: Siddhi (Ma) (70.01% left)
Karana: Kimstughna (Ve) (96.25% left)
Hora Lord: Venus (5 min sign: Le)
Mahakala Hora: Mercury (5 min sign: Le)
Kaala Lord: Rahu (Mahakala: Sun)
This girl was born during Sukla pratipad, and this began 16:53 and the child was born 27 minutes later indicating Tithi-gandanta.
Moon is in the kendra and joined benefics in its own sign. The child has serious health problems in their early years, but survived.
So the arishta did come, but the benefics joined and associating protected the child. Without the panchanga we would merely be seeing Gajakesari, and all sorts of other blessings. Panchanga is definitely worth studying more.
Yes, the mantra is fine.
Yours sincerely, Visti.

Dear Srivastava, Namaskar
The given chart:
Natal Chart
Date: May 25, 2007
Time: 9:57:00 pm
Time Zone: 4:00:00 (West of GMT)
Place: 84 W 23′ 17″, 33 N 44′ 56″
Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Altitude: 50.00 meters
As I had explained in the same lecture, the method of ascertaining premature delivery is different, because the method I taught so far can only show birth 30 days prior or 30 days after the nine month period.
So we need to use different principles to ascertain birth after seven months, and that too we should be able to define birth 30 days prior or after the seven month period.
Here they are:
i) There must be some balarishta yoga of some sorts.
In this chart Lagna is in Moola Gandanta justifying some balarishta. There is Sarpa yoga.
ii) Venus must have the strongest influence on the eighth house.
Here the eighth house is occupied by Mercury and Venus. Mercury is in own sign, but being the lord and joined Venus, Venus will dominate.
iii) Navamsa lagna must be in first/seventh from Venus.
This last point is used for rectification
Now you can use the adhana chakra principles, but instead of 273 days (27.3×10) as the spectrum for analysis, we will use 27.3×8 = 218.4 days for the base span of pregnancy wherein the child can be born during premature deliveries.
Ascertaining the length.
- Now see that lagnesh is indicating birth AFTER 218 days due to Parivartana.
Fine-tuning the day
- The Saturn-Gulika correction indicates a three day difference, i.e. after 221 days the child was born. This is about 16th October 2006.
Chandra Rasi
- The moon must be in kendra to natal moon, so we will select the closest dual sign on 19th of October 2006.
Lagna
- Lagna at birth is Scorpio, so at Adhana it must be Taurus.
Hora
- Birth was during nighttime, so adhana must have day-forces stronger. Taurus is a night sign and thus Moons hora will have day-forces stronger.
Lagna degree
- At birth the span of night at birth was 9hrs, 53 minutes and birth was 1hr, 19 minutes after sunset. This indicates a fraction of 13% of night passed. So similarly the lagna will be 13% of the Moons hora in Taurus lagna. This is 3:59:48 degrees of Taurus lagna.
Final result:

Dear Aman, Namaskar.
Yes the place of Adhana is relevant.

October 30th, 2007 at 6:03 pm
Dear Visti,
What do you do when a child is born by scheduled cesarian section? Do you feel that is just part of the child’s karma and so you can make an adana chart, or does the forced delivery make this chart impossible?
Thank you,
Julli
October 31st, 2007 at 11:39 am
Dear Julli, Namaskar.
When parents schedule the operation for a c-section they are also under the influence of the Atma of that child during that time. The birth chart itself will also tell us if the child was born through a c-section or not, so this must be part of karma.
Further, the time of the c-section is rarely the time of the childs delivery itself. We as astrologers are then put in a position where we must ensure the best time for a successful operation.
So we can treat the charts of children born through c-section as quite legitimate from every perspective. Afterall it just means the child has some extraordinary influence of Mars on their chart.
Yours sincerely, Visti Larsen

Dear Visti,
Did you find the following applicable:
AK indicated in adhana chakra was the AK of previous lifetime?
Principle:
AK in subsequent life would be lord of 12th from karakamsa (given that rebirth occurs)
e.g Karakamsa in adhana chakra is Le, and in current life one got Mo (lord of 12th from KK) as AK?
Many Thanx

Namaste,
For the calculation of gandanta, what is more precise, the ghatikas or the padas. For eg if someone’s moon is in 28.19deg,Cancer and 4th pada of Ashlesha, would he or she have gandanta dosha? The chart I am referring here is of my female colleague with DOB 26,August,1984, 6.15AM Jamnagar.
