An article presented at the SJC Serbia Conference 2006, and published in the Jyotish Digest Oct-Nov 2006.
The article highlights some of the core important concepts of interpreting Surya in the chart, and the various aspects of this interpretation.
The interpretation includes the concepts: dharma of the person, karma of the person, abhijeet rasi, extent of raja yoga and wealth, slokas from Jaimini and Parasara reg. the same, Geeta, etc.

 Importance of Surya: Download

One of the Jyotish works that I have cherished and appreciated the most in my studies of the subject. This divisional chart had inspired me from my earliest days in Jyotish to learn the secrets of the tradition fully.
When I was first taught this Varga i was informed that Jagannath Rath, the grandfather of Sanjay Rath, always used to draw three vargas, namely: Rasi, Navamsa and Jagannath Drekkana. Realizing its importance I took it upon me to thoroughly understand this chart, which the Jyotishas of today apparently don’t even know of or completely overlook.
