Jagannath Drekkana

One of the Jyotish works that I have cherished and appreciated the most in my studies of the subject. This divisional chart had inspired me from my earliest days in Jyotish to learn the secrets of the tradition fully.
When I was first taught this Varga i was informed that Jagannath Rath, the grandfather of Sanjay Rath, always used to draw three vargas, namely: Rasi, Navamsa and Jagannath Drekkana. Realizing its importance I took it upon me to thoroughly understand this chart, which the Jyotishas of today apparently don’t even know of or completely overlook.
This article is an attempt to bring some of its uses to light

    Dear Visti, Namaskar,
Excellent explanation of the ‘karma yoga’ from the 3H.
But it seems I havent understood’ karma phala’ correctly from this paper. Is not that shown by the 8H in Jagannath Drekkana! Sanjay ji says 4,8,12 are the brahman houses of ’specific knowledge’; 8H graha gives knowledge which tests one’s ‘ karma phala’ while 4H,12H graha show the knowledge one learns naturally and excels in.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks and regards
    Sharat

    Dear Sharat, Namaskar
You are perfectly right. The eighth house and its trikona shows ones Moha, whilst the third house shows the Karma yoga.

    Dear Vistiji,
    Namaste.
1.How to analyse events such, as buying Houses,Building Schools,Relationships etc.,in Jagannath Drekkana.?
    2.What are the Judgement rules?

    Dear E.Krishna, Namaskar
Asked in the true spirit of a dedicated student. First you must ask yourself (and i don’t make the answers easy for students) why on earth we should use the J-Drekkana for these events to begin with? What are we seeing?

    Vistiji,

Your Notes on Jagannath drekanna is fantastic and a rare knowledge. Can we quickly recap the role of each house in Drekenna chart apart from 3rd house

    Thanks

    Visitiji,

    Hare Rama Krishna,

Generic question- In learning jyotish how you connect information to inference and is guru’s grace and intervention important. When you presented various info to guru Sanjay , how did he help to mix the info to create an insight. Can we have some key points/artciles on the same

In the drekenna article, can we help fill out the folloing :

    1. Role of graha in 3rd house
    2. Role of Ghrha awasta in 3rd house
    2. Interpretation of yoga in D3 chart - both shubha and ashubha yoga. Can we see curse bad omens and influences

    3. Blending and connection with D10 and D60. If a planet is driver of 3rd house say exalted in 3rd in D3 and owns dushta sthana how do we interpret

    Best Regards,

    Subbu

    || Hare Rama Krushna ||

    Namaskaar Visti Ji,

    I have two questions -

    1) What would a debilitated 3rd lord in Jagannatha Drekkana indicate?

    2) For Vrishchika Drekkanaamsa, Shani will be the 3rd lord as well as Kharesha. How can we interpret its role in a given chart then? Since Shani doesn’t like Mangal, the lagnesha, is it safe to assume that Shani will almost always act as Kharesha for Vrischika Drekkanaamsa? Please guide us since I have many charts with Vrishchika Drekkanaamsa.

    Thank you.

May Sri Vishnu bless us all,
    Reema.

    Dear Reema, Namaskar

    1) When it comes to Karma then debilitation isn’t a good thing and actually makes it difficult to live up to ones hope and desires. Know that when it comes to karma we must turn our eyes towards Vishnu, and a planet is performing the role of Vishnu when exalted. It is not when debilitated, and therefore requires mahavidya sadhana.

    2) If kharesha supports ones karma it can be very dangerous for those who obstruct ones karma. Just see the example of Queen Victoria in my article.

    Yours sincerely, Visti Larsen

  11. Nabatanu Das Says:

    Namaskar Visti-ji,

I just finished reading of this nice article composed by you.

With reference to your last response, I have a few questions
and it will be of great help if you kindly let me know your thoughts on them.

In my Jn D-3, lagna in Virgo with Moon in the third in Scorpio
and the third lord Mars in Cancer with Saturn.

    Questions:

    1) You mentioned that debilitated 3rd lord is not a nice thing to have and it requires “Mahavidya Sadhana”.

Now, will it have any different impact if there is a Parivartana yoga (with Moon in Scorpio), if the 3rd lord (Mars) is debilitated (in Cancer) and conjunct an enemy (Saturn)? Or is it just over-damaged ?

    2) Since it involves Mars, it requires worship of Bagalamuki.
    Is that right?

    3) Now, in Jn D-3, Saturn and Mars is third from AL (in Taurus).
In the PDF, you demonstrated how it indicates the time of death.

So, in this case will it mean end of life in Mars mahadasa Saturn antaradasa ? And does it imply accident as Saturn and mars ate involved ?

    Thank you.
    Yours sincerely.
    Nabatanu

  12. Visti Larsen Says:
    हरे राम कृष्ण॥
    Dear Nabatanu, Namaskar
    1) Parivartana yoga ensures that the native comes ‘out’ of debilitation. So yes that helps. But in this case both planets are debilitated and that isn’t much of an improvement.

    2) Yes, Bagalasundari.

    3) If you read again you will see that it was a reference to the rasi chart, and not the J3.

    Yours sincerely, Visti Larsen

  13. Nabatanu Says:

    Namaskar Visti-ji,

Thank you very much for clearing my doubts.

I have just one more question regarding sadhana of
    Bagalasundari.

You mentioned once (probably in Arudhya Fellowship) that
sadhana of Bagalasundari should be done only if one is practicing ‘Brahmacharya’. But I am married.
So, can you please advise what I should do in that case?

    Yours sincerely
    Nabatanu

  14. Shanthi Says:

    Namaskar Visti-ji,

In my D3-Jn I have Grahamalika Yoga from Venus in 3rd to Debilitated Moon in 7th. Could you help me in what the meaning of this is? Is it very bad Karma?

Taurus Lagna, Venus in Cancer, Mars in Leo, Sun in Virgo, Ketu in Libra, Moon in Scorpio, Jupiter in Capricorn, Saturn and Mercury
in Aquarius and Rahu in Pisces.

    Yours truly,

    Shanthi

  15. Vishal Gehlot Says:

    Sir,
In my Jagannath Drekkana chart, Mars is the third lord, but is placed in MKS (7th House). But Sun is exalted in 3rd house. So, I request you to please throw some light on effects of third lord in MKS in Jagannath Drekkana on karma yoga.
